The APO-1 firesteel will give sparks hot enough to quickly start a fire. The black metal striker is always kept close to the firesteel by the green braided cordage, included. Alternatively you can scrape with the spine corner of your APO-1 – not the cutting edge – across the firesteel to make sparks. You want fire, not a dulled cutting edge.
